Landed property was considered a key element of Feudalism. It can often generate income for the owner in various ways and is considered a relatively safe investment, albeit long term.

The Land Registry is the body that process all information relating to Deeds of Assignment, Searches, Consents and Certificate of Occupancy etc. Most of these information are now readily available in electronic format and made transparent by State Governments. So, if in doubt, check with the Land Registry first.
